How to Export Software Inventory Report from Intune?

Many customers want to export a number of applications installed on devices in Intune. Intune enables you to export inventory data through discovered app Intune device inventory report. 

While exporting software inventory data from Intune, you will obtain a list of applications installed and the application type information from all customers. You can evaluate the total number of applications installed on your system through the discovered apps Intune reports.

What are Intune Discovered Apps?

As per Microsoft, Discovered Apps contain a list of detected apps on the Intune-enrolled systems in your tenant. It acts like a software inventory of all your associated devices for an Intune tenant. You can also point the discovered apps in the Intune admin center by traversing through

Apps>Monitor>Discovered Apps.

Like Software Inventory in SCCM, Intune encourages you discover the apps that were found on managed devices in the form of discovered apps. The data can be easily exported to a .csv file, beneficial for internal auditing.

For personal devices, Intune never gathers information on applications that remain unmanageable. On corporate systems, any app, managed or not, is gathered for this Intune reports. Many businesses ensure that the Windows device ownership is marked to Corporate in the Intune Admin Center.

Intune offers a collection of apps on the Intune-enrolled devices in your tenant.

Tips for Exporting Inventory Reports from Intune Device

  • Log in to the Microsoft Intune admin center.
  • Browse Apps> Monitor> Discovered Apps.
  • Click Export to export the software inventory report.
  • While exporting discovered apps, you find two options.

  1. Export the newly found out apps aggregate data set.

  2. Export the newly found apps raw data collection

Both these Intune discovered apps reflect the applications installed on Intune-administered devices.
